Протестантское церковное объединение. Официальное название - Международная конвенция Христианских церквей [International Convention of Christian Churches] (с 1956). Сформировалась в 1832 в результате слияния двух близких между собой групп. Первая была основана в 1804 в штате Кентукки бывшим пресвитерианским священником Б. У. Стоуном [Stone, Barton Warren] (1772-1844), и ее сторонники стали называть себя просто "христианами", а свои конгрегации - Христианскими церквами. Вторая была создана в 1809 (этот год и считается датой создания современного объединения) в штате Пенсильвания также бывшими пресвитерианскими священниками Томасом Кэмпбеллом [Campbell, Thomas] (1763-1854) и его сыном Александром [Campbell, Alexander] (1788-1866). Приверженцы группы Кэмпбеллов именовали себя "учениками Христа", а свои общины - Церквами Христа. К новой деноминации примкнула часть методистов, пресвитериан и баптистов. Главными целями нового объединения были объявлены борьба с сектантством и объединение верующих на основе возврата к новозаветному христианству. Не признают каких-либо символов и исповеданий и выступают против любых "сектантских" названий церкви, считая, что все это не имеет оснований в Священном Писании. Считают, что относительно вопросов, о которых в Библии нет твердого указания, у человека может быть свободное мнение. Верят в Божественную Троицу. Крещение (погружением) у совершается над взрослыми сознательными людьми. Священниками могут быть как мужчины, так и женщины, пасторы не имеют священных облачений, а порядок службы и многое другое определяется местной общиной. Большинство - убежденные трезвенники. Активно ведут миссионерскую работу за рубежом. Штаб-квартира - в г. Индианаполисе, шт. Индиана. Численность составляет более 831 тыс. человек (2001), большинство в штатах Техас и Миссури
